PROFILE OF THE FORMER HEAD OF DEPARTMENT - ENGLISH
ALOYSIUS NNAMDI OBIKA
Aloysius N. Obika obtained his West African School Certificate from Nnobi High School, Nnobi in 1979. He later studied the English Language at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. After graduating in 1987, he was posted to Sokoto State for his National Youths Service Corps. For his Master of Arts degree in English, he studied at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. Currently, he is rounding up his doctoral studies in English language at his first Alma Mater. His bias is literature with particular emphasis in Oral Literature.
He started lecturing at Madonna University from 2007 having had teaching experiences firstly as an auxiliary teacher at Nnobi High School, Nnobi; secondly, during his NYSC days at Federal Government Girls' College, Gusau; thirdly, as a lecturer in the Sandwich Unit of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka.
He has contributed in a number of ways in this university. He served as the secretary of the Faculty of Education and Arts between 2009 and 2012; as a member of the University Ad-Hoc Welfare Committee in 2011; as the secretary of the Department of English Committee on Nomenclature in 2012, and from 2009 till date, he has been the editor of
Madonna Journal of English and Literary (MAJELS).
To his credit, he has made a number of publications some of which are:
Abomination of Desolation and Other Stories,The Great Tornado and
Duringthe Miracle Crusade and Other Stories. His most ambitious fictional creation is
Future Conquests of Wealth which is awaiting to be released in the United States of America. Apart from books, he has a number of journal articles to his credit.
