South Africa played host to 58 Peace activists and scholars from
Africa, America, and Europe on July 25-26, 2014. The occasion was the
FOURTH INTERNATIONAL AFRICA PEACE AND CONFLICT RESOLUTION CONFERENCE
with the theme: "Alternative Dispute Resolution and Peace Studies in
Africa: Lessons, Prospects and Challenges". The Conference which held at
Protea Hotel. Balalaika Sandton was co-hosted by The African Centre for
The Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) and Centre for African
Peace and Conflict Resolution (CAPCR).
conference started with opening and welcome remarks from the Deputy
Director, ACCORD, South Africa, Mr. Jerome Sachane, and The Founder and
Executive Director, CAPCR-CSU-Sacramento, USA, Prof. Ernest Uwazie. A
total of 27 scholarly papers on Peace and Conflict Resolution were
presented including a keynote address by Mr. Dumisa Ntsebeza. One of the
highlights of the Conference was the presentation by the
Vice-chancellor, Madonna University, Nigeria, Prof Chuks Emmanuel
Ezedum. The Paper titled "EFFICACY OF EDEH'S CHARITY PEACE MODEL AMONG
NIGERIANS" was hailed by all the participants as novel and great.
paper attracted a lot of attention from the conference participants who
were overwhelmed by the simplicity and practicability of the model. The
model was hailed as the greatest revelation of the conference.
